Saint Andrew School Parent Bulletin November 10, 2010
We are getting close to the end of the liturgical year so the theme of the readings have to do with the last times or end of the world. In the gospel from Luke we are told of the need to defend ourselves against the enemy. The last lines of the gospel is good advice as we journey through life, ìYou will be hated by all because of my name, but not a hair on your head will be destroyed. By your perseverance you will secure your lives.î Hopefully, our association with Jesus will be mostly pleasant and not cause us the hatred of others.
Tomorrow is picture makeup day. Anyone who was absent will have pictures taken as well as those who were not satisfied with the first picture. You must return the other pictures in order to have a new picture.
Sunday is the school-sponsored breakfast after the masses. Grades three and six should participate by contributing, serving, cleaning up, etc. The menu is tamales. We hope to see you there.
Thank you to Mrs. Rose on the great book fair and also to the good sports (Chencho, Mrs. Pool and Mrs. Dudek) who posed for pies in the face. The students loved it.
Thank you to those who participated in the Chick-fil-A Spirit Night. It was fun. Thanks to Debbie, Chencho, and Ms. Dudek for being volunteers at the restaurant. We have one of the Chick-fil-A calendars in the office for you to check out. Let us know if you want to purchase one or if you want to get friends and neighbors to buy one. We need to buy a quantity and then sell them so it will be important to see how many we need.
Thank you for attending the Parent Teacher Group meeting last Monday. It is helpful to have good participation. Next Monday is the School Board meeting at 6:30 in the faculty room.
As Christmas will soon be here, we will be providing a couple opportunities for gift items. Coming soon there will be a Pampered Chef party. More details about that will be forthcoming. We will also offer the Marble Slab gift cards again. These are wonderful stocking stuffers. Consider using these as gifts since it will help the school and give you one less thing to think about.
The uniform is looking much better so hopefully the students will continue to follow the uniform rules. As winter weather comes, I want to remind you that non-uniform sweaters, sweatshirts, and coats may be worn outside but not in the classroom. I still see some students wearing other items in class.
