ANSWER THE CALL is our charism. It is derived from our patron, Saint Andrew who was the first called Apostle of Jesus Christ. We are very service oriented at Saint Andrew Catholic School. Not only do we practice generosity to one another and extol kindness, but we seek to be of service directly in the wider community.
We work to create people for others. The students engage in many service oriented activities beyond the school. A few examples are the collecting of teddy bears to give to sick children at Primary Children's Hospital, donating food to the hungry through the Saint Andrew Food Pantry, donating gently used clothing to those in need through The Road Home shelter, donating new items to families in need through the Sub for Santa program, participating in the Heifer Foundation project & UNICEF's Trick or Treat fundraiser, and many other service oriented works of mercy, help, and kindness.
Some people believe in "paying it forward," that is sharing kindness with others because of the kindness received. Some people believe in being kind for the sake of the common good. Our kindness shared through service can be these things, but more so it is an expression of our faith in God: to love God and our neighbor, to treat others as we would like to be treated. Service is also a way of thanking God for our blessings and sharing those blessings with others, whether it be our time, our talent, or our treasure. Our service is rooted in sacrificial love that seeks the good of others.
We ANSWER THE CALL to take are of ourselves and others.
